my little shot at grace

minor hiccup

So, this has been a crazy odd and challenging past three months. I wish had started this site sooner to document it all, but nevertheless I started a new blog. Check it out, very un related to my photos, and only been posting for a few days… www.minorhiccup.com

I am starting to shoot again more frequently, and as I do I promise to update these said adventures on this page. I repeat to myself 30,000 times per night to post more, and one day I will listen to what I’ve been saying out loud.

just kidding, sorta.

Stay Tuned, again!

…here we go again

so, it has been quite a while since i’ve updated this site. goodness so much going on lately! since the last post, i’ve moved up to san francisco…left my job with apple…been to tahoe…had a best buddy from indy come visit…and the giants, the giants have started their run at another world series (granted the start has been more of a struggle) so here we go… i’m all settled in, looking for new employment and have a lot of time to update my sites, learn more cocoa and the ole c language and who knows what else? any ideas?

in the mean time…

’tis the season.

Well Sam and Sasha’s wedding photos are complete and ready for viewing. Below are some of my favorites from the day. Although we were a little more crunched for time than normal, we got some pretty gorgeous shots. I am also pretty darn excited to get them out in the city and take some more one on two (bride & groom) shots throughout the city, once the weather isn’t quite so dreary. It was a day that I got to spend celebrating two friends’ wedding, with a wonderful group of guests in one of the greatest cities I’ve been in. I am looking forward to capturing more great moments in the Bay Area, for both fun and business. Stay tuned, the whole album should soon be uploaded onto my full site for family & friends viewing!

some updates…

So it has been quite some time since I have last updated this blog. I am actually super excited to get back into shooting this next weekend. I get to capture the wedding of my two friends Sam & Sasha at a beautiful hotel in San Francisco. Anyway, here are a few shots I’ve taken lately. Things have been busy around the workland, and since the seasons are starting to change the weather has been a little iffy.

muir & stinson beaches…

Well, I was in the mood for a little road trip by my little lonesome, and it totally paid off. Granted I couldn’t work on my much needed tan, I knew if I headed over the golden gate and onto the coast that I would get some pretty nice photos. Boy, it was freezing and I desperately wanted to meet some friends that started a fire, but I survived and had a blast. I didn’t have to work on anyones schedule but my own and that was a blessing in itself. Lots of time to capture moments, to sit in silence and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks on Muir Beach. Then, after I almost died of hypothermia I decided to jet upward a few miles north and went to Stinson Beach. It was sunnier and the beach was much more crowded. After my beach adventures, I got to meet up with a friend that just moved to the City, and then of course head to my other friends to watch the Bachelorette Finale. I’m a girl, how could I not watch that! It was a very busy Monday “off”, but I enjoyed every second. Here are a few photos from the day.

taking a breath.

i’ve worked so many hours in the past couple months, a lot of overtime and a lot of pushing myself to be the best. so, when i do get days off, i either blow them off or take full advantage of them. The past couple weekends i’ve hit up a few beaches, the city, some bbq’s, and several trips to my favorite farmer’s market grocery store. i have some pretty breathtaking views only minutes from where i live. i’m a lucky camper. here are a few shots i took while two of my besties from indy came for a visit before their big move out here! so excited to have them closer to me. we hit up santa cruz because one of them really wanted to see the beach, and well i’ll never turn down a trip to the beach and then hit up the city on another overcast day.

•the foreign jerk nuggets that decided to kill my view of my one time cable car ride,                       regardless we laughed a LOT about the whole situation•

The sun gets me to run…

So, this new me is really transforming. I have always been this athletic type, growing up playing any sport imaginable, yet having my personal favorites. I was always getting dirty, cuts, bruises and none of that ever seemed to phase me. After college, I still taught tennis, but didn’t really play as aggressively as I had intended and eventually I became stuck in that rut of just working, hanging, and doing a lot of computing. :o) Well, after a few years of this lifestyle it has really hit me how out of shape I am. Well, I’ve been on a new “lifestyle change” diet for a few weeks and although I didn’t pack this all on in one day, I know it won’t come off that quickly either. So the diet has changed, and I can tell in my energy that I’m already feeling more refreshed! Now recently, I’ve really gone off ship and starting jogging. Woah. I know. Crazy. I feel even better now, and kinda crave it. I am looking forward to actually becoming a casually decent jogger, if that exists. I mean now that I’m in an area where more people are fit, I’ve got beaches to run on, and I’ve got this sun that is beaming down on me. Why not right? So I’m gonna get wild and still take photos while I jog…I’ve got my phone that puts jams in my ears and has a camera to snap some shots along the way.

So here we are again…

We meet again, my sweet little blog. This time I promise to put more time into you. I have settled in at my quaint home, starting to know where things are, and just really beginning to enjoy life. California has been such a blessing. It has revived my soul, and given me that umph to really find my genuine passions. So, with this cute invention called the iPhone 4, which blew me away from my older slower 3G model, I have discovered an interesting way of capturing some pretty amazing photographs mobile•y. I am going to post photos that I’ve taken with my DSLR and my contraption that is my cellular device, and also post some inspirations that I have come across while doing some surfing (not literally surfing, when I run into that I will definitely blog about that experience) the interwebs. My creativity has gotten a boost with some friends that are also photographers, and I am totally looking forward to the times when we’ll take advantage of our days off and just shoot. Shoot life, shoot objects, shoot what our eyes really see. That is what I’m excited for…

In the mean time here are some of the latest mobile photos I have taken, and loved.

This final photo is a day project I created along my lonely apartment wall. Pictures from my old co-workers, and best friends in Indianapolis, family, inanimate objects, creative souls, and everything else that has made a mark on me. Unfortunately, I couldn’t include everyone…

Getting Settled…

I am here, still getting settled, getting used to living somewhere completely new. It’s amazing, exciting and still taking some “getting used too”. I have friends here, but not those sorta friends that will force me to do stuff even if I don’t want too. (Yet) I go to work, hang out with a few friends and try to laugh as much as possible. I have yet to bust out my DSLR, but have taken some iPhone photos. Couldn’t really update much on the site since I didn’t have wireless. I’m all squared away now, so as things happen I’ll update. Here are a few photos of some cool things I’ve seen, and well my home, my cute little petite homey home…

Pack up my bags…

Well guys, it’s really happening. I’m finally starting a new chapter in my life and planning a big move across the country. 2400 miles is a pretty far journey away from the “norm”. I am excited, but sort of nervous. I’ve never been so far away from such consistency. Granted, this is just what I need. A fresh start in an area where I have a few really good friends, in an area where I can explore and let the real Molly out. I’ll be in an area to take photos, meet potential clients, meet friends, and see an area that I have grown to love. I have about a month left here to pack up my stuff, say my goodbyes to friends and family and head out. Next week I am flying out there to hopefully find a place to live, get a little more acquainted with my new home, then fly back and finish my saying goodbye to Hoosier land check list. Granted I won’t be taking much but that can fit into my Toaster aka Kip Elliott, but I’ll still be able to function with my air mattress and few kitchen supplies. Maybe I’ll actually start writing more about my adventures, the people I meet and maybe even ideas that could come with the warm weather I’ll soon be hitting. Stay tuned!

A Beautiful Day

What a beautiful last few days I have had in Northern California. Not only have I met more amazing people, but I also got to volunteer some of my time in Redwood City for a local school that needed a little assistance. Mr & Mrs Hup’s church takes part in “A Beautiful Day” projects every few months. Since my awesome visit landed on this special weekend, I got to tag along. First, assisting them with some help in the Library & Tech Room, then I decided to grab my camera and start shooting. Not only was the weather absolutely perfect, but the other volunteers were a blast and the teachers and employees of the school were grateful. It was neat to see how fast things can get done with more than just 6 hands. Below are just a few of the photos I captured. Just looking at them again brings a huge smile to face.  Just a couple more days ’til I head back to Indiana…then hopefully sooner than later I’ll make a big move out to this gorgeous left coast.

a senior shoot.

After shooting both of his sisters weddings this summer, I had a great time shooting Michael. He’s headed off to IU this coming fall (which decided to give me a degree a few years ago) so I am super excited for him to cheer on the Hoosiers. Here are only a few of the shots I got on a chilly Fall evening.

After just shooting their engagement photos last month, Emily & Brandon did a marvelous job planning their gorgeous wedding! It was a perfect day at Avon Gardens, and I was thrilled to capture their special day. Here are just a few photos I picked out. The rest of their album will be up soon! Hang Tight!

Congrats to a sweet friend and her amazing new husband! I was blessed to capture Marie & Steve’s wedding July 18th and here are just a few pictures to show how much fun we all had. I wish I could post all of them here, but I’ll try to limit it under 50. Stay tuned for more to come! :)
